So the story starts when my friend and I went on a vacation! They were bored, and as a massive book fan, they decided to bring their e-reader. Something which I personally haven’t seen before. Closure of Costume Client

So… Today it’s been around a Year since I started the Costume Client project.

And after a lot of thinking, I have decided to archive the Costume Client Project.

This project was made with the sole purpose of providing a way for the CatWar community to create and use their own costumes in their game.

We went from just me using it to a handful of people using it, which I never expected, considering I didn’t manage to share it with the community because of a small roadblock I encountered.

New Search Feature!

So Today I have added a new feature to the Blog!!!

I added a search engine to the blog so it is easier to navigate and also find specific things that I have previously talked about.

It works by searching through a JSON Object provided by Hugo which contains all the posts contents.

We do that by using the following lines to create the JSON Object:

Mnemosyne 1.1.1 Release!

So I have released Mnemosyne version 1.1.1!

This is mostly a PATCH release for Mnemosyne.

There was a report of a bug found by @bubbob42 which broke the MangWall when performing a search.

The bug was happening mostly on A2000 and A4000 machines and was causing a damaged MangWall. I was able to fix the problem with a tool called WipeOut

What is WipeOut?

WipeOut is a tool that traces and munges memory and detects memory trashing.

So I have been gone for a while since the last post.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time because of school and other things.

But I have been working on Mnemosyne and I have some exciting news!

There have been 2 Releases recently for Mnemosyne.

The first one is a Patch Release and the second one is a Minor Release.

One of the Releases is Mnemosyne 1.0.2 and the other Release is Mnemosyne 1.1.0.

So I think you have realised that this post was not posted on Sunday. That is because I have been working on a new release of Mnemosyne.

It’s a Patch release but it’s still a pretty exciting one.

That means that not many new features have been added but there have been some bug fixes.

This Release is more focused on improving the quality of the code itself so it is easier to maintain and improve in the future.

So it’s time!

As part of the Amiga Tool Jam I have finished my first ever Amiga Application!

It’s called Mnemosyne like the Greek Goddess of Memory.

Mnemosyne is an open-source disk utility application for AmigaOS 3.2, which can be used to show you what files and folders are taking up space on your disk.

It is written in C and utilizes NDK 3.2 and ReAction.

Debugging In Amiga

So recently I have been trying to make my tool as good as possible and I am trying to make it as bug-free as possible. (Ie. Not make your Amiga crash)

This requires that we debug it find the bugs and fix them.

So I am currently trying to debug my tool and I am trying to find the bugs and fix them.

I am using FS-UAE to emulate the Amiga and when we specifically want to debug an application we should use a CPU That has MMU (Memory Management Unit).

Making a mail detection system

Spying on the Sun using a Photoresistor

So today I did something quite different. I used a light sensor to spy on the sun kinda.

I have always wondered at what exact time and at what rate the sun rises and sets. I have always been curious about this. So I decided to make a project to find out.

So I used a Photoresistor to measure the amount of light that was hitting the sensor. I then used a Raspberry Pi Zero W which I previously used for a previous project ( Making a retro bag! ) to record the data and plot it on a graph.

Hello Everyone!

So Lately I have been working on Learning C as I explained in my last blog post which you find here: New Year, New Language!.

Now I have been working with C and with the Amiga and I wanted to create a program where it would create a window.

Now to create an interactive window we have to use something called an NDK.

What’s an NDK?

NDK stands for Native Developer Kit and it is a set of tools and documentation for tinkering with the Amiga at the operating system level or slightly below that.

What’s an Amiga?

I always have wanted to learn C and now I can use the Amiga as a platform to learn it!

The snow is made possible by utilizing the @keyframes and @-webkit-keyframes CSS properties as well as animation which can be found here https://www.w3schools.com/css/css3_animations.asp.

Example: This makes the snowflakes move from the top of the screen to the bottom.

For a long time, I have had a website called arisamiga.rocks which was made using Basic HTML & CSS, and Javascript.

I have been using this website for a long time for experimenting with website making and I always wanted to revamp it.

Another week another Blog post WOOO!

So let’s talk about feedback.

Feedback is great as it helps you improve your work and get better at what you do. It also helps you to see what you are doing wrong and what you are doing right. It is also a great way to get better at what you do.

Before I used a feedback system by Appzi which was great! It had quite a few features and was easy to use. I was able to integrate it with github and it was able to report everything to me using github issues.

Soooooo There is this thing called Github ReadMe.

Mostly used for repositories to explain their function and to provide information to a person that is viewing them. But Github has done something different. If you replace the name of the repository with the same name as your github username then it will show that this repository is a special one

As it shows here with mine.

That means that anything ReadMe has will be displayed on your profile page!

So. What is Docker?

Docker is a tool that allows you to run applications in a containerized environment. Transition Year Work Experience!

So this year I am going into Transition Year and we are advised to search for work experience as it is part of the Transition Year program here in Ireland which is great.

They provided us with websites that show work experiences specifically for the Transition year which are

Then they told us to look daily on these websites for experiences as most work experiences are “first come, first served” which means that they are gonna get whoever applies first.

Google Ad Terminator

In the past months, I have been working on a Chrome/Firefox extension called “ADTerminator”

When researching or doing things such as debugging or just casually browsing I have noticed that sometimes Google will push websites that will be dangerous or straight up wrong and tag them as “Ads” on top of the search results

By doing this some people might click on the link which can be an ad to a website that can be misleading or even try to get private information about you.

So today we have something a bit different. This is a project that I always wanted to do as I wanted to work with the Raspberry Pi Zero W.

Now you might ask me “Aris, Why didn’t you get the Raspberry Pi Zero W 2 which is faster and more powerful?”

Well, I didn’t get the Pi Zero W 2 because it came out 2 days after I bought the Pi Zero W and I had no idea that a Pi Zero W was even in the works… so yea, Fun!

My First Gamejam

A couple of days ago I participated in my first Gamejam on Retrograde Jam 3.

This Gamejam was a 10-day game jam hosted by Programancer with an emphasis on simulating the 8-bit/16-bit era! Low resolution, small palettes, chiptunes, and everything that made gaming in the early 90s great!

The Gamejam run from July 1st, 2022 to the end of July 10th, 2022

The idea of joining a Gamejam always intrigued me especially as I picked up learning Godot for the past 5 months working on small games and as finally, Summer time arrived I decided to join one with my friend Efefsok.

Hello!

I’ve been thinking of making a blog for a while but every time I decided to not go through with the idea of a blog as I thought it was a waste of time. Finally, I thought about it and realized that making a blog will be very beneficial.

To showcase projects but also to have a platform where I can write things like tips that I found and my experiences from projects which can benefit some people and my future self in understanding what I was thinking.
